I am totally entering this year's cobbler contest. Now, I've never made cobbler before, but I don't consider that a real handicap. It just means I get to make a bunch of experimental batches before deciding on an entry. Any tips from previous entrants?

I'll be gone.
I don't know how they come up with the final winner. They always ALL taste good to me!!!I think it is a good plan that you are going to experiment BEFORE the contest. I entered one year with one of those recipes where the crust kinda creates itself. Sounded easy. I LOVE me some crust, so I figured a lot of it would be better than a little, so I increased the crust stuff. Bad idea. Ended up with a big glob of mess. But...yep...I took it in anyway and hoped no one would know it was mine. This year I'm going to go ahead and do my MIL's recipe. It's more trouble, but hers is always pretty good.
Good luck! Paula Deen always has good recipes... Adapt one of hers...
I was hoping this was going to be a shoe-making contest...
