I've got a job interview tomorrow.
... It involves a typing test. I'm a little nervous about this, because it means I either (a) type in QWERTY, where I am much slower than normal and have to look at the keys or (b) reveal that I type in an alternate layout and request I mess with their computers. I usually withhold the weird-keyboard information until after I'm hired, because nobody ever knows what I'm talking about and I'm afraid it would make a negative impression. But I don't think I can type 60 WPM in QWERTY. So I'm not sure which is worse.

Introduce them to Dvorak. It is how you type best. And it's a legitimate keybord option or it wouldn't be an option.
i second this ^.
also, it'll make you stand out--you'll be the memorable alternative typist!
way to have an edge on the competish....
I'll third that as well.
I've never heard of that. Does that make me "old school"??? Show me sometime, though. Good luck with the interview. I know what it is like to have a unique skill set. It is a challenge to get people to give you a chance, but if they ever do, they'll be happy they did.
Find the way it benefits them. Something like, "I know this may sound strange, but it help me be more efficient. I like to be efficient."
Can you take a keyboard with you for the test?
